Recruiting Local Pokemon Fans! ^.^ [May. 17th, 2009|07:13 pm]
Alabama Anime Fans

cordials
Greetings, fellow Alabamian anime enthusiasts! =D

My name is Kath; I'm sixteen and currently living in Athens. I'm looking to organize a Huntsville-based group for older fans and supporters of the Pokemon franchise, including the games, TCG, and anime. I've always been surprised by the Huntsville area's general enthusiasm for the various aspects of Pokemon, from the clubs held at bookstores early on to (more recently) Athens' own TCG league, hosted by the now-defunct Valhalla Cards and Comics. With the recent release of Platinum and the phenomenon enjoying a bit of revival, I thought it would be effective to "seize the moment" by bringing North Alabama's resident fans together to meet one another and recruit new fans.

I thought it might be ideal for meetings to be held twice a month at the same date and time (for example, at 5:00 p.m. on the first and third Fridays each month). Meetings could possibly take place in the Fountain shopping center on North Memorial Parkway (with Toys 'R' Us and Books-A-Million, both Poke-friendly venues) and in members' homes, though I'm open to other suggestions. Some of the activities I have in mind for us to do include wi-fi battles and such, merchandise swaps, art exchanges, karaoke and Wii nights, movie viewings, and holiday events. If there's enough interest, maybe we could restart the local TCG league and host it at the library.

Please reply or PM me with any and all feedback. I'm really hoping to make this group a success and keep the spirit of Pokemon alive in and around Huntsville! ^_~

Intro [May. 25th, 2008|05:48 pm]

Hi *waves* I'm new.  I just thought I'd take a minute and do the introduction post. I'm so glad to see there are more anime fans in Alabama. ^_^

Name: (Name or nickname) Rachel

Age: 27

Location: Central Alabama

Martial Status: (Ya never know) single

Home Page URL: http://night-childe25.insanejournal.com/

Favorite Anime:  I really have a lot of favorite anime.  Saiyuki, Trigun, InuYasha, Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Pet Shop of Horrors, the list goes on and on.

Favorite Manga: Hard to say. Fake was my first manga and intro to shonen-ai, so I guess I could say that one. I love Crimson Spell. The Wallflower is a favorite. too.

Favorite Anime Magazine(s):  NewType USA was my favorite, but since it's not around anymore....between Otaku USA and Shojobeat.

Favorite Cosplay: I don't cosplay that much.but I enjoy seeing people cosplay from Trinity Blood or Saiyuki though.  Truthfully, as long as it's well done, I love it all. Well, as long as it is actually anime. I hate going to anime cons and seeing people dressed up as a Star Trek character or an american cartoon character. I want to ask them if they realize that it is an ANIME  con. Sorry, just a pet peeve.

Recent Purchases: I just got the first season box set of Kyo Kara Maoh!

Favorite Soundtracks/Bands: I like the music from Saiyuki and I love varrious J-rock artists.  Some I don't even know the name of.

Cons Attended: MTAC and AWA

Favorite Anime Link: It's not a free site, but I love www.Anime-Direct.com  It's cheap and you get the latest from Japan, before it ever hits the states.  The only catch is they take down the anime once it's licensed, so you have to get what you want when you see it.  For any fans of Kyo Kara Moah! they have season 3 up at the moment.  Who knows when we'll get it  in the states since Geneon folded.

Other: I'm an artist.  I love to read and I'm a yaoi fangirl.

Favorite Live Action/Asian Cinema: Uhhh...well...I don't see a lot of that.  I guess I'm between "Two Master Kims(sp?)" and Ju-on.
